Salmos originates in a beautiful, hidden land, in the rocky hills about 2 hours south of Barcelona and only 12 miles inland from the Mediterranean Sea. Not much exists in this area besides beautiful vistas, old vines making exceptional wines and extremely steep hillsides. The vineyards, planted on steep shale (llicorella slate) slopes, are subjected to significant variations in temperature between night and day. These natural challenges contribute to the allure of this wine. Salmos is a tribute to the monks of the Carthusian order who planted the first vines in Priorat in the 12th century. A wine that protects the mysterious heritage of ancient times and wise men. Salmos pays tribute to the two native varietals to the Priorat region and is a blend of solely Cariena and Garnacha.
Salmos presents a deep, dark cherry red hue. Its bouquet is complex and intense, offering a captivating experience. The palate is greeted with rich fruit notes, reminiscent of raspberry preserves, which harmoniously blend with an array of mature aromas, including figs and dried plums. Subtle undertones evoke the essence of coconut and marzipan, adding depth and intrigue. On the palate, this wine is truly exceptional. It boasts exquisitely refined and aromatic tannins that persist as the wine develops, showcasing remarkable length. As it unfolds, it reveals nuanced notes of toasted oak and cedar.
