Nelsons Green Brier head distiller, Brandon ODaniel, is always talking about how much he loves bourbons aged in red winecasks. Its why Nelson Brothers MadeiraCaskfinished bourbon is one of his favoritecaskfinishes. American oak barrels, previously used to age sweet Malmsey Madeira wine, are filled with our Nelson Brothers bourbon and aged an additional 3-18 months in the Madeiracasks. Madeira wine is known for its dark sweetness with notes of caramel, coffee and dried fruit. It brings out in the bourbon notes of raisin, brown sugar, vanilla and cocoa.
